12th Oscar® qualifying International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR / 2019

July 5th – 11th, 2019 in Poznan

LOOK AND SEE

In the Animator team, we try to keep our finger on the pulse - we closely observe the world of film news and the film world in general, with all its complexity, commitment and energy. The shocking times, times of populism growth on the one hand, and an ecological catastrophe threatening us on the other, force artists and anyone who is not indifferent to the fate of our planet to take a clearly defined position. That is why in the program of this year's Animator, in addition to three competitions, there are also events with meaningful titles: Animation as a message, Realities in black and white, Non-fiction animation: animating reality and Women have a voice. Following, as usual, the development of new imaging technologies, this time we reached - previously it was tools for creating computer games, mobile phones, etc. - to virtual reality. A set of musical events promises to be very interesting, with Bret Battey's installation at the forefront. Fixed points of the program will not disappoint anyone: presentations of important festivals (Anilogue from Budapest and, traditionally, Annecy), national cinematographies (Norway), retrospectives of outstanding directors (Georges Schwizgebel, Janet Perlman, Georges Sifianos). It is worth taking an interest in attractive thematic blocks, such as Animation Duos or Animation outside the cinema. At this year's Animator, everyone will find something for themselves. Professionals will have their own Animator Pro, children - Animator for Children, cartoon lovers - Feliks the Cat, series amateurs - shows of animated series, thirsty for novelties - contests. I wish you all many strong impressions.
