Every year, hundreds of artists from all over the world apply to participate in the four ANIMATOR competitions.
A record 3,250 titles from over 100 countries were submitted for the 16th edition of the Festival!
Competitions have accompanied the Festival since its inception. What began with the International Short Film Competition has evolved over the years into four competition categories, providing a great opportunity for viewers to get acquainted with the overview of the latest animation from around the world, and for creators - both debuting and already recognized - a chance to present themselves in front of the festival audience:
- Oscar® qualifying International Short Film Competition,
- International Feature Film Competition,
- International Animated Series Competition,
- Polish Animated Film Competition.
The competition films are evaluated by the International Jury, which consists of creators, producers and animation enthusiasts. In previous editions, the winners were chosen by such well-known personalities like Daniel Gill, Hisko Hulsing, Matylda Damięcka, Špela Čadež, Margaret Parsons, Mike Johnson, Marta Pajek, Joanna Quinn, Phil Mulloy and Tim Allen.
Viewers of competition screenings at the Festival have a unique opportunity to honor their favorites by taking part in a plebiscite, as a result of which the winners of the prestigious Audience Awards are selected in the following categories: Short Film, Feature Film and Animated Series.
