The day starts with a children's programme in the Muza Cinema. Join us at 10:30 for a collection of animated shorts called DESTINATION: BRAZIL, A COUNTRY OF DIVERSITY. The programme is intended for children aged 10 or over. This collection of poetic, intriguing and sometimes slightly disturbing animations shows that Brazil is not exactly what we generally think it is. All viewers aged 8 or over are invited at 12:00 noon to the Polish premiere of Félix et le trésor de Morgäa, a feature-length animation from Canada directed by Nicola Lemay. It is a story of a teenage boy named Félix who sets out to find his father who disappeared at sea. He is accompanied by his friend fisherman Tom, a one-eyed parrot, and a cat that acts like a dog. The trail leads to the Shadow Island, ruled by Morgäa, owner of a priceless treasure.

Screenings of the International Feature Film Competition, International Short Film Competition, International Animated Series Competition and ANIMATOR.PL Polish Animated Film Competition will be presented in the Muza Cinema from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

ANIMATED SERIES will be shown at 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Do not miss this exciting collection of hilarious and politically incorrect animations from Adult Swim. The programme includes season 5 of Justin Roiland’s and Dan Harmon's Rick and Morty and the absurd adventures of a special task force in Smiling Friends, Michael Cusack's latest series.

GALAXIES BETWEEN US, one of this year's special events, starts at 9:30 p.m. An electronic concert of BLOKI will be accompanied by live VJ-ing by Tomek Ducki, an acclaimed Polish animator. The event's leitmotif will be based on sci-fi themes: the outer space, interplanetary and intergalactic travel, technological progress, alien civilisations and a host of other inspirations from film and literary classics. The event will take place in a former bank building at the corner of Masztalarska Street.

ANIMATOR IN THE OPEN, the Festival's official outdoor cinema at Kolegiacki Square, starts at the same time. For starters, we will present the feature-length Nerdland, a story of two best friends, aspiring screenwriter Elliot and aspiring actor John, whose dreams of super-stardom have fizzled. One of Nerdland’s animators is Peter Chung, a special guest of this year's festival. If the weather is poor, the show will move to the Muza Cinema and start at 11:30 p.m. We will keep you posted on our social media. Your tickets will remain valid.

SUNDAY AT THE FESTIVAL

Sunday will start with DESTINATION: NEWS OF THE WORLD, part of the ANIMATOR FOR KIDS programme.
The youngest viewers are invited to the Muza Cinema, showing Kiwi & Street at 10:30 a.m. The helpful, carefree and inquisitive furry little creatures are back after a five years' break. In their new adventures they chase a hat, teach a hatchling how to fly and face a hungry friend eating everything in his path - and so much more!
DESTINATION: BRAZIL, A COUNTRY OF DIVERSITY, a programme for kids aged 10 or over, starts at 12:00 noon. On Sunday we will show Boy and the World, a story about Cuca, a small boy from a small village. When Cuca's father goes to work, the boy follows him and discovers a fantastic world inhabited by mechanical animals and strange creatures. Animation techniques change as the boy moves on from one place to another, illustrating the complexity of the world around Cuca.

Competition screenings in all four categories will continue from 3:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. As always, they will be held in the Muza Cinema.

At 7:00 p.m. join us in the Scena na Piętrze Club for another special event: Moja babcia będzie kiedyś księżniczką, a live animation by Mariusz Wilczyński, with music by the outstanding cellist Marcel Markowski. Pieces by J.S. Bach and Tadeusz Nalepa will be played.

At 9:30 p.m. the outdoor cinema in the Open Courtyard of the Poznań City Council will show La tortue rouge - the first non-Japanese animation from Studio Ghibli and a debut feature-length film by Michaël Dudok de Wit. Just grab one of our comfy summer deck chairs and enjoy this summertime film experience you simply cannot afford to miss!

Peter Chung, one of the special guests of this year's ANIMATOR, will join us online in the Muza Cinema at 10:00 p.m. The screenwriter, set designer and director has cooperated with such studios as Disney, Warner Brothers, Universal, Marvel and Dreamworks. In 1990 he created Aeon Flux, an animated series for adult audiences shown on MTV. In 2010 he directed Firebreather, a feature-length CGI animation for Cartoon Network which earned an Emmy for an individual achievement in animation. His other films include: Animatrix, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury, and Tomb Raider.
