The International Short Film Competition is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the latest short animated productions from around the world, selected by the Selection Committee from among almost 4000 submissions received every year.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded the International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR the Oscar^® qualifying status in 2017. The Poznan-based festival is one of only three in Poland (and the only one specializing in animated cinema) to receive the distinction. This means that a short film that wins the Festival’s Grand Prix, the Golden Pegasus, is on a fast track to being considered for an Oscar® nomination in the Best Animated Short Film category and can compete for this prestigious award.

In the International Short Film Competition, the international Jury awards the following prizes:

• GRAND PRIX / Golden Pegasus - 45 000 PLN gross for the film director,

• II Award / Silver Pegasus - 12 000 PLN gross for the film director,

• III Award / Bronze Pegasus - 6 000 PLN gross for the film director.

The following special awards are also presented:

• Wojciech Juszczak Award for the Best Music Film / Music - 2 000 PLN gross for the film director or to be divided between the film director and music composer,
• Marcin Giżycki Award for the Best Student Film - 2 000 PLN gross for the film director,
• Audience Award for the Best Short Film,
• Volunteers Award for the Best Short Film.
