We'd like to introduce you to the three people who handled the selection of international short films at the 17th Animator this year.
They watched thousands of films from all over the world and selected the best of them for you. You will see the results of the selectors' work during the June screenings from June 25-30, 2024 in Poznań. This year's selection committee is:
MONIKA ŁUSZPAK-SKIBA - Curator and producer of art and film events, member of jury and festival selection committees. Co-founder of the Punto y Raya film festival team. Founder of the Punto y Raya Lab Poland Foundation and director of the Punto y Raya Junior festival, which she’s been developing in Wrocław since 2019. Curator of digital projects at Krupa Art Foundation.
MACIEJ KĘDZIORA - Graduate of the Organization of Film and Television Production at the Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia. Deputy editor-in-chief of the filmawka.pl website. Introduces narrative elements to his journalistic-critical texts. Enthusiast of mumblecore (a genre of low-budget independent films, characterized by naturalistic acting and dialogues), dialogue-heavy cinema and all types of independent productions, which aren’t afraid to cross genre horizons and experiment with form.
KAROL SZAFRANIEC - graduate of the Institute of Audiovisual Arts at Jagiellonian University, film expert, animator of film culture. A regular associate of MCK SOKÓŁ in Nowy Sącz and the Mazovian Institute of Culture in Warsaw. Head of the "KOT" Film Discussion Club, of which he is a regular speaker. Co-founder of the Youth Film Academy in Nowy Sacz, nominated for the 2017 PISF Awards. Double winner of the 2011 National Film Speakers Competition (Main Award, People's Choice Award). Curator and originator of interdisciplinary cultural events, including: "Między obrazem a ekranem", "Antonisz. Interpretacje" (at BWA SOKÓŁ) or the Visual Arts Festival "Relacje" at the Mazovian Institute of Culture. He hosts the authorial "Audio/Wizualny" podcast.
