With the New Year, the Animator Festival is embarking on a new path! For the first time in its history, we are entrusting part of the programme to a curator: Tim Allen – an outstanding British animator and long-time collaborator of Guillermo del Toro and Wes Anderson, who has been connected with Animator for many years. During the 19th edition of the festival, he will share behind-the-scenes insights into his work with audiences and, together with us, reflect on what it means “to be human.”

The motto of this year’s edition is intended to encourage reflection on what it means to be human. We believe that art helps us become more sensitive and attentive to others. Animation has a unique power in this regard. Like no other field, it allows us to look deeper into ourselves and the world around us. With the slogan “to be human,” we also emphasize the value of animators’ work in the face of the increasingly frequent use of artificial intelligence.

The section connected with the theme “to be human” is being created together with Tim Allen – an animator with 25 years of experience, specializing in stop-motion animation. He was a senior animator on the Academy Award–winning Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio and the lead animator on Wes Anderson’s Oscar-nominated Isle of Dogs. His credits also include Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie, Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires, and The House for Netflix. He also worked on the Academy Award–winning Peter and the Wolf and the Oscar-nominated My Life as a Zucchini. For many years, he has also animated television series such as Fireman Sam, Postman Pat, as well as Shaun the Sheep and Creature Comforts USA for Aardman Animations. Tim Allen is known for his work on commercials and for animating short films by emerging directors. He served as animation supervisor on The Magic Piano and on special stop-motion episodes of Club Penguin produced for Disney. His latest film, Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake, will be released in cinemas at the beginning of 2026. In addition, he has extensive experience mentoring animation techniques around the world, working with animators at various levels of advancement. Occasionally, between productions, he also hosts in-person stop-motion mentoring sessions at his home in London.

See you between July 4 and 12!
