Submissions are now open for the 20th edition of the ANIMATOR Festival!
We are announcing the Open Call for the 20th anniversary edition of the International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR 2027, taking place in Poznań from 3–11 July 2027.
FUTURE DREAMERS
Ever since we were children, the future has been a space for our imagination. We created worlds that did not yet exist, imagined who we would become, and wondered what might come next. 20 years ago, when ANIMATOR was founded, we too had our own vision of the future and of what an animation festival could become.
Today, we want to return to that sense of curiosity and invite artists who look beyond the present. We are interested in animation that imagines, anticipates, questions or designs the future: new worlds, technologies, ideas, forms of life and possibilities we have yet to discover. We are looking for both bold visions of the future and personal stories that confront our childhood dreams and ask: what comes next?
Future Dreamers is an invitation to take a journey across galaxies and into the inner worlds of our imagination. To futures thousands of years away, as well as those that might arrive tomorrow. Show us the future you can imagine.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We invite artists from around the world to submit their work to the Future Dreamers Open Call. We welcome short animated films made using any animation technique.
We are looking for films that explore the future in its broadest sense: from science fiction, new technologies and distant worlds to social and environmental change, as well as personal, philosophical and entirely unexpected visions of what is yet to come.
Films may be submitted free of charge, provided they are made using any animation technique (at least 51% of the film must be animated) and have a maximum running time of 40 minutes. There are no restrictions regarding the year of production.
Each film must be submitted in Full HD (1920 × 1080) in MP4 or MOV format, together with three stills from the film, a synopsis (up to 1,000 characters), a director's biography (500–1,000 characters) and a director's photograph (min. 300 dpi). AWARDS
Selected films will be presented as part of the 20th edition of ANIMATOR 2027 in Poznań.
The selection committee will choose the films to be presented in competition during ANIMATOR 2027. The winner will receive the Grand Prize of EUR 1,250 gross. The Jury may also grant additional, non-statutory distinctions.
Selected films may also be presented after the festival as part of the special ANIMATOR ON TOUR 2027 programme in Poland.
