"Der Atem" is a story based on the novel fragments of the same name by Thomas Bernhard. It combines literary stories with the personal experiences of the director. In the film we see the situation after the operation. A young person coming into the room where patients wait for their death. Film describes that person's experiences in this short time, external observations and inner stimuli. The climax occurs when a second doll is introduced. We learn more about the rules of this reality.
