Animator in Washington D.C

2.11.19, National Gallery of Art

Colonists in the 19th century Africa, protagonists of the books by Ryszard Kapuściński, the corpse of a Swiss journalist at war in former Yugoslavia, a sect of German religious fanatics in Chile, a thief-psychopath. What brings all these characters together? Come and see on screen during the contest viewing of feature films at the Animator festival!

The next mystery card of our festival is revealed! We already know the tiles of the feature films to compete in the main contest. This year, there are five films. The prize pool of the International Animated Film Contest is 45 thousand złotych.

The jury will review:
“Ce Magnifique Gateau!” by Marc James Roels and Emmy De Swaef,
“Another Day of Life” by Damian Neonow and Raúl de la Fuente,
“Chris the Swiss” by Anja Komfel,
“La Casa Lobo” by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña, and last but not least
Milorad Krstić’s “Ruben Brandt, a gyűjtő”.

The contestants in the Feature Film category are: an impressive adaptation of Ryszard Kapuściński’s works to the language of animated film: JESZCZE DZIEŃ ŻYCIA by Damian Nenow and Raúl de la Fuente, featuring a great sense of “ the animated matter”, a disturbing portrayal, full of moral ambiguity, of a young Swiss journalist, joining animation with documentary film CHRIS THE SWISS by Anja Kofmel, filled with crazy imagination, perfectly balanced, attractive both to critics and general audiences RUBEN BRANDT, KOLEKCJONER by Milorad Krstić, memorable, chilling and dark psychological animated experiment DOM WILKA by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña, as well as drenched in black humor, a masterpiece of puppet animation and a study of the brutality of human nature THIS MAGNIFICENT CAKE! by Marc James Roels and Emma De Swaef - comments Filip Kozłowski, festival programmer
