This year we are triply happy. We are celebrating 70 years of Polish animation, the festival's 10th anniversary and granting it the status of an Academy Award® Qualifying Festival.

We will focus on the subject of politics in animation, which will be presented in special screenings, retrospectives and a scientific conference: Animated Politics from Méliès to Mulloy. We will introduce you to the unforgettable Austrian animation, and in the Animation and Live-action section we will look closely at their borderlines.

Besides the International Competition, where creators will compete for the Festival Grand Prix, The Golden Pegasus, we will be showing true gems from animation schools and festivals from the Czech republic, Romania and France. Celebrating the 70 years of Polish animation, we will be presenting Witold Giersz's retrospective, Salon des Refusés of the Seven Decades and films with music by Krzysztof Penderecki.

We recommend the section of Young Polish Animation, in which we will look closely at works of the new generation of animators. In the fantastic workshops, among other activities, you will be able to create puppets like those from a Tim Burton movie, and even adults will be delighted by Animator for Kids.

Our guests include David Silverman, winner of an Emmy for his work on "The Simpsons" and the Oscar nominated director of "Corpse Bride", Mike Johnson, who will conduct a Master Class. Among the many music events, the absolute must-sees are Woman from Dunes or performances by KinoManual and Ken Field, who is going to play music to films by Karen Aqua. So here comes the programme of the jubilee Animator's 10th edition. See you around!

Almost 50 films from around the world will compete for the Golden Pegasus award. Short films will be judged by an international jury with Sheldon Cohen (Canada), Phil Mulloy (Great Britain), Dorota Szwarcman (Poland), and feature films by Signe Baumane (Latvia, USA), Anca Damian (Romania) and David Silverman (USA). Good luck to all the filmmakers and their films!

Animated Politics from Méliès to Mulloy
Since the very beginning, film, especially animated film, has been used as a weapon in political games.
We will look closely at this phenomenon during the scientific conference prepared in cooperation with the Institute of Film, Media and Audiovisual Arts, addressed to an international circle of scholars, critics and theorists.

PHIL MULLOY RETROSPECTIVE (GREAT BRITAIN)
An animator, screenwriter, live-action film director, producer and creator of TV series and films, winner of many awards. Studied painting at Ravensbourne College of Art and film at the Royal College of Art.

FILMS WITH MUSIC BY KRZYSZTOF PENDERECKI
A presentation of animated films with music by one of the most acclaimed contemporary Polish composers, Krzysztof Penderecki.
SALON DES REFUSÉS OF THE SEVEN DECADES
Whenever Polish animation celebrates another round anniversary, it is the great and well-deserved international successes it achieved that tend to be mainly emphasised. All too often, we forget that for most of that time Polish artists had to cope with many problems not only of a purely production-related nature but also with censorship. The special show will present undervalued, ostracised, rejected or forbidden films.

Marek Serafiński - a connoisseur of Polish vibe
In Polish animation there hasn't been another artist as sensitive to the present as Marek Serafiński. The meeting is connected with the screening of three films by this greatly appreciated animator, producer and long-term chairman of the Section of Polish Animated Film in the Polish Filmmakers Association, who died in February 2017.
