Le Philharmonique de la Roquette is a group of musicians which focuses on the accompaniement of other types of live artistic expression such as silent movies, plays, dance, readings, etc. Founded in Arles, quartier La Roquette, Le Philharmonique has been offering cinema-concerts for over fifteen years. Le Philharmonique de la Roquette supports both classic silent film (including Buster Keaton, Fritz Lang, FW Murnau), but also modern animations created in close collaboration with the directors. The music is sometimes written, sometimes improvised, referenced from a wide range of music genre: film music, pop, classical, jazz and electronica. More than a simple illustration, the music brings a new dimension to great classic silent movies and rekindles our interest.
